Closed Permanently

July 11, 2025

Community Partners, donors, and Stakeholders of Helping Alaska,
Helping Alaska has faithfully served the communities that make up the Fairbanks North Star Borough for 40 years. Beginning in 1985 as Love INC, and then continuing to serve under the name of Helping Alaska since 2020, we’ve worked to connect community members with the resources they need, all while offering hope, prayer, and support to each person who has reached out.
It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce that our doors are permanently closed, effective immediately.
Our Helping Alaska Furniture Bank Ministry will be open July 14th through August 1st, 2025, but no additional services will be offered.
The last 40 years wouldn’t have been possible without your support, contributions, donations, prayers, kindness, and consistency.
Your selflessness has made it possible for this agency to provide housing for homeless families and food when they had none. You’ve made soup that warmed our clients on the coldest of days and asked for nothing in return. You’ve donated vehicles that have provided clients with a safe way to get to work, doctor’s appointments, daycare, and home. You’ve put heating oil in empty tanks and helped keep the lights on.
The furniture you’ve so generously given has made it possible for people to sit on a couch instead of a sidewalk, sleep on a bed instead of concrete, and given people an opportunity to experience their own definition of comfortable. Our clients eat off your plates with your forks and warm themselves under your blankets. You’ve provided dentures for victims of domestic violence and helped prevent frostbite with your gloves and shoes. You’ve adopted 50+ families year after year for Christmas, bridging gaps and making dreams come true.
You’ve inspired hope with your generosity.
The mission of Helping Alaska is: Inspiring hope by connecting resources, churches, and people.
We’re certain this mission will continue in the work that each of you does for your neighbors.
Romans 8:28 says – “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him; who have been called according to His purpose.”
We trust that He is in charge, that He has a plan, and that He will be glorified through this. The agency is and has always been His.
Please keep our clients and all of us at Helping Alaska, past and present, in your prayers.
It is the end of an era.
It has been a joy and a blessing serving alongside each of you.
Current clients and landlords are being contacted and informed as to what happens next for them.
